Custom cakes and birthday cakes in Melbourne
This is the full Bakeology Studios range — every custom cake and birthday cake we currently make, in one place. Thirty-six designs across the Vintage, Floral and Junior editions, all baked and hand-decorated to order in our Burwood East studio in Melbourne's east. Nothing here is sitting in a cabinet waiting for a buyer. You choose the design, the size, the sponge and the filling, and it is made for your date.
Three editions, one studio
- Vintage Edit — Lambeth piping, scalloped borders and heirloom shapes, from penny at $200. The one to choose for a milestone birthday or an engagement.
- Floral Edit — hand-piped buttercream blooms and botanical detail, from etta at $165. Our most-requested style.
- Junior Edit — tall, bright, textured cakes with hand-made figurines, from lila at $180. Dinosaurs, safari, storybook, sport and under-the-sea.
What each size costs and feeds
A 5-inch starts at $165 and serves 10–15. A 6-inch — the size most people choose — starts at $220 and serves 15–25. A 7-inch starts at $260 (serves 25–35), an 8-inch at $350 (45–55) and an 8-inch tall at $395. Two tiers start at $450 and three at $800. Wedding cakes are quoted separately, from $450 — see wedding cakes in Melbourne. Serving numbers are dessert portions; cut into coffee slices a cake goes roughly twice as far. Flavours and fillings
Three sponges: classic vanilla, classic chocolate and chocolate coffee. Vanilla and chocolate fillings are included in the price. Raspberry compote, fresh strawberry, salted caramel, chocolate ganache, cookies and cream and Biscoff are premium fillings at $15 to $30. We do not offer eggless, gluten-free, dairy-free or vegan cakes, and we would rather tell you that plainly now than on the day.
Nothing here quite right?
Every design in this collection can be adjusted — colour, size and flavour — and most can be adapted further. If you have a theme, a palette or a photograph in mind that is not on this page, send it through the custom enquiry form and Sithumi will design it from scratch and quote it in writing. Allow two to four weeks for fully custom work.
Ordering, pickup and delivery
Order online with a minimum of two days' notice, and by Thursday 10pm for a weekend cake. Pickup from the Burwood East studio is free, seven days a week, 7am to 10pm. Delivery is free within 10 km — which covers Box Hill, Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Blackburn, Forest Hill, Vermont, Nunawading and Wheelers Hill — and is quoted by distance across the rest of greater Melbourne, with a $90 minimum order. How much does a custom cake cost in Melbourne?
Cakes start at $165 for a 5-inch serving 10-15. The most popular 6-inch starts at $220 and serves 15-25. Seven-inch from $260, eight-inch from $350, two tiers from $450 and three tiers from $800.
How far ahead do I need to order?
Two days minimum for anything in this online range, and by Thursday 10pm for a weekend cake. Fully custom designs need two to four weeks, and wedding cakes are booked 12 to 18 months ahead.
Can I change the colours, size or flavour of a cake shown here?
Yes. Colour, size and flavour are adjustable on nearly every design in the collection. If you want something that is not shown at all, send it through the custom enquiry form and we will design it from scratch.
Do you deliver across Melbourne?
Yes. Delivery is free within 10 km of the Burwood East studio and quoted by distance beyond that, with a $90 minimum order on delivered cakes. Free pickup is available seven days a week, 7am to 10pm.
Do you make eggless, gluten-free, dairy-free or vegan cakes?
No. Every cake is made on the same three sponges - classic vanilla, classic chocolate and chocolate coffee. Nuts are not a listed ingredient in anything we make, though traces are possible.
