Dinosaur Cake Melbourne: Sizes, Prices and Custom Designs

Dinosaurs are one of the three themes we are asked for most at children's birthdays. This page covers our dinosaur cake, blue, with his real sizes and prices, what a custom dinosaur cake involves, and how to get one to a party anywhere in Melbourne.

Meet blue, our dinosaur cake

blue is a Jurassic-style cake: textured buttercream in blue and deep green, layered foliage that climbs the sides, and sculpted dinosaur figurines on top. He is built for dinosaur-mad birthdays from about age three upwards, and the name, age and palette are all made to your brief. Every one is baked from scratch and decorated by hand, so no two leave the studio quite the same.

Most dinosaur parties land on the 6-inch. Children's parties need fewer servings than people expect, because the cake is rarely the only sweet thing on the table. A piped name and age is always free.

A custom dinosaur cake

blue is the starting point, not the limit. A different palette, softer greens and creams for a first birthday or bright volcano reds for a ten-year-old, is a colour change rather than a custom build, and it is priced as the original. Extra handmade figurines are $35 (small) or $40 (large), and an acrylic name topper is $35.

If you want something that is not blue at all, such as a particular dinosaur, a sculpted shape or a scene we have not made before, that is a custom design. Send a photo and the party date through the custom enquiry form and Sithumi will quote it in writing. Allow two to four weeks for a fully custom cake. Flavours

Classic Vanilla is the safe choice for a room full of children; Classic Chocolate is the other favourite, and Chocolate Coffee is better suited to the adults. Vanilla and chocolate fillings are included. Raspberry compote, fresh strawberry, salted caramel, chocolate ganache, cookies and cream and Biscoff are premium fillings and add $15 to $30. We do not make eggless, gluten-free, dairy-free or vegan cakes. Nuts are not a listed ingredient, but the studio is not nut-free and traces are possible.

Notice, pickup and delivery

The minimum is two days. For a weekend party, order by Thursday 10pm. Pickup from the Burwood East studio is free, seven days, 7am to 10pm.

Delivery is free within ten kilometres of the studio, which covers Box Hill, Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Blackburn, Forest Hill, Vermont and Nunawading. Beyond that it is charged in ten-kilometre bands from $30, with a $90 minimum order. The delivery guide has every band.

If you are collecting: flat boot floor, not the seat, and keep it out of the sun. The figurines are sturdier than they look, but a warm afternoon is not kind to buttercream.
